Natural PTFE Tube

The original fluoropolymer — virgin PTFE extruded to tight tolerances for universal chemical resistance, extreme temperature range, and zero contamination.

About Natural PTFE Tube

Teflon is believed to have been discovered in 1938 by Dr. Roy Plunkett — by accident, during research into refrigerant gas. The material developed was smooth, chemically inert, and extremely strong. Today we call it PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): the original and gold standard of fluoropolymer tubing, and a synthetic polymer of carbon and fluorine.

Natural PTFE tube is the most widely used variant of PTFE tubing. It is manufactured via the paste extrusion process, yielding a flexible, semi-transparent white tube with a smooth bore, minimal wall eccentricity, and full traceability to ISO 9001:2015. PTFE is the most flexible of all fluoropolymer tubing and carries the widest temperature range (−200°C to +260°C). It resists highly corrosive liquids and gases even at elevated temperatures, and its smooth surface finish and low coefficient of friction make it suitable for laboratory, chemical, electrical, automotive, food, pharmaceutical, and medical applications.

Classification of PTFE Tubes

Spaghetti Tubing (0.5–8mm OD)
Thinnest wall category — used for wire insulation, fine-gauge laboratory fluid lines, medical device lumens, and instrumentation. Highly flexible, tight-radius capable.
Standard / Pressure Tubing (8–25mm OD)
Mid-range wall thickness providing a balance of flexibility and pressure capacity. The most common variant used in chemical processing, food, pharma, and automotive fuel lines.
Pipe Liner / Heavy Wall (25mm+ OD)
Thick-wall tubing for pipe lining applications, high-pressure service, and structural uses. Provides excellent corrosion protection when used as a lining inside metal pipes.

Natural PTFE Tube: Unique Characteristics

Extreme Temperature Range
Continuous service from −200°C to +260°C (−328°F to +500°F) — the widest range of any fluoropolymer tube. Suitable for cryogenic fluids and steam applications alike.
Universal Chemical Resistance
Resistant to virtually all acids, bases, solvents, and aggressive chemicals. One of the very few materials that can handle fuming nitric acid, aqua regia, and concentrated caustic soda.
Outstanding Electrical Properties
Breakdown voltage in excess of 20 kV/mm. Excellent dielectric properties at high voltage and high signal frequencies — widely used as wire and cable insulation.
Non-Stick & Low Friction
Coefficient of friction as low as 0.04 — lower than almost any solid material. Smooth bore prevents fouling, eases cleaning, and reduces pressure drop across the line.
UV & Ozone Resistant
Fully resistant to ultraviolet radiation and ozone exposure. Unaffected by outdoor weathering, making it suitable for outdoor instrumentation and cable protection.
Non-Flammable
PTFE does not ignite and will not support combustion. Critical for aircraft wiring, fuel lines, and any application with fire-risk classification.
High Purity / FDA Compliant
Virgin PTFE meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1550. No plasticisers, no extractables, no leaching — safe for direct food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and medical contact.
Flexible Yet Dimensionally Stable
Paste extrusion yields a flexible tube that holds its cross-section under bending. Available in spaghetti-thin 0.5mm OD up to large-bore pipe liner dimensions.
